Women's Tennis heads to Erskine Friday, Emmanuel (Ga.) on Saturday in league action

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's tennis team is on the road for two Conference Carolinas matches this weekend, traveling to Erskine on Friday (Mar. 22) for a 2 p.m. tilt and going to Emmanuel (Ga.) on Saturday (Mar. 23) for an 11 a.m. start.

About the Bobcats - Lees-McRae enters its first conference matches with an 8-6 overall record, as well as a 23-18 combined doubles record and also 33 wins in singles play. Sandy Allen and Nursharneem Shamsuddin lead the team with eight wins in doubles play, while Zeynep Cakirer and Mackenzie Langmade also have six wins in doubles play. Jaden Acklin and Rebecca Pierce have totaled four wins in doubles play, while Acklin and Dakota Tittle have also recorded three wins in doubles play. Two other doubles tandems have each recorded one win on the season. Acklin leads the team in singles wins with seven, while Allen and Shamsuddin each have six wins in singles play. Cakirer has recorded five wins in singles play, while Langmade and Pierce each have four and Tittle also has one.

About the Opponents - Erskine enters the week at 2-7 overall and 1-1 in Conference Carolinas, totaling 19 doubles wins and also 38 singles wins so far this season. Mikaela Bennett and Marie Berghaus lead the team with six wins in doubles play, while Rachel Berkey and Mollie Polk as well as Berkey Rebecca Weaver each have four wins in doubles play. Morgan Keefe and Katie Loudermilk have combined for three wins in doubles play, while Berghaus and Weaver have also won one match as a doubles tandem. Weaver is the team's leader in singles wins with 10, while Berghaus also has eight wins in singles play. Loudermilk has earned seven singles wins so far, while Berkey has six. Bennett (four), Keefe (two) and Polk (one) are the other players to record wins in singles play.

Emmanuel (Ga.) enters the week at 5-7 overall and 3-0 in Conference Carolinas after defeating North Greenville 6-1 on Tuesday (Mar. 19).

Series History vs. Opponents - Since 2006, this will be the 16th all-time meeting between Lees-McRae and Erskine in women's tennis. Erskine leads the all-time series in that span 14-1.

Since 2006, this will be the fifth all-time meeting between Lees-McRae and Emmanuel (Ga.) in women's tennis. Emmanuel (Ga.) leads the series in that span 3-1.
