BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College women's tennis team shut out visiting Southern Wesleyan on Saturday (Apr. 6) in Conference Carolinas action by a score of 7-0.
The Bobcats won two out of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, before sweeping singles play to complete the shutout.
Sandy Allen and Nursharneem Shamsuddin earned a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, before Rebecca Pierce and Jaden Acklin won at No. 3 doubles 6-2. Allen would begin singles play at No. 1 with a 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 win, before Shamsuddin would pick up a straight-set win at No. 2 singles 6-4, 6-0. Zeynep Cakirer would grind out a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, before Mackenzie Langmade would pick up a 9-7 win at No. 4. Pierce would also win in straight sets at No. 5 6-1, 6-0, before Acklin would earn an 8-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The Bobcats (10-10, 2-4 Conference Carolinas) are back at home tomorrow (Sunday, Apr. 7) to host North Greenville at 1 p.m.
