Lady BobcatsTrack & Field Kicks Off Indoor Season

Boone, NC--The Lees-McRae College's Women's Track and Field team kicked off the indoor season Saturday afternoon in their first meet of the 2006-2007 campaign. The Lady Bobcats made the short trek to Boone, NC for the Appalachian Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State University, in the Holmes Convocation Center.

Freshman Lizette Joseph (Rutherfordton, NC) had a busy day as she finished 6th in the 55 meter hurdles, 18th in the 55 meter dash and 21st in the 200m. Classmate Ashley May (Chilhowie, VA) had solid performances in the mile and the 800m, finishing the mile in sixth with a time of 5:36 and the 800M in seventh with a time of 2:32.

In her first action since running in the NCAA Cross Country meet, 2006 CVAC Cross Country Freshman of the Year Dana Lindholm (Weaverville, NC) set a school record with a time of 11:24 in the 3000M. Teammate Erin Tyler, (Branford, FL) had a busy day competing in both the hurdles and the high jump finishing eighth and seventh respectively. Amanda Elliott (Valdese, NC) and KC Robinson (Lyman, SC) had personal bests in the shot put.

The Bobcats are now off until after Christmas break when the indoor track and field season gets going on a more consistent basis.
