Charlotte, NC--Lees-McRae's women's track team got their outdoor season started in the cold weather at University of North Carolina at Charlotte for the 49er Invitational. The distance squad of the track team participated in this meet, with the sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers traveling to Radford University to open the 2007 season.
Leading the way for the Bobcats was freshman Ashley May as she set the school record in the women's 1500 with a time of 5:07; she also ran the 800. Another great performance was established by freshman Dana Lindholm in the women's 5k as she became only the second Bobcat ever to break 19 minutes for 5k. Her time of 18:57 is a personal best time.
Also setting personal bests were Gina Valenti in the women's 5k with a time of 19:46 and in the 3k with a time of 11:36.
