Johnson City, TN--The Lees-McRae women's track and field team stormed into the Milligan Relays and came out with a variety of personal and season best performances. Leading the charge were field event athletes KC Robinson and Erin Tyler.
Robinson (Lyman, SC) set a personal best in the women's discus throw with a toss of 31.25m (102ft-6.5in) en route to a third place finish in that event. Tyler (Branford, FL) set a personal best in the women's shot put with a toss of 9.16m (30ft-0.5in) to finish in second place. Tyler also placed second in the 200m dash, third in the long jump and third in the 100m hurdles.
"Erin has made terrific strides this semester," said Coach Scott Myers. "She had an injury that kept her out of competition and hindered her training for the fall semester, but she's rebounded well in the spring."
The lone event winners for the Lady Bobcats were freshman Shantra McCoy (Stafford, VA) in the women's 100m hurdles and freshman Hannah Trimble (Spring, TX) in the women's pole vault. Both athletes set meet records with their performances. The Lady Bobcats swept the women's pole vault with freshman Candice Corbin (Boone, NC) placing second and sophomore Karyn Bragman (Clayton, NC) finishing in third place. Bragman also finished third in the women's 400m dash.
The Lady Bobcats will be back in action this weekend at the Western Carolina Invitational.
