BOONE, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College women's track and field team posted several impressive performances at this weekend's Appalachian State Early Bird Meet, placing three student-athletes among the top 10 and setting four school records.
Lees-McRae placed two high jumpers in the top 10, including Persephanie McRae's (Brooklyn, N.Y.) school record jump of 1.52 meters, which earned her a fifth-place finish. Fellow freshman Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) also performed well, placing 10th with a jump of 1.47 meters.
Taryn Moorhead (Deer Park, Wash.) also set a school record in the pole vault, placing 10th with a vault of 3.06 meters. Sophomore Jamara Cook (Claremont, N.C.) posted a program-best performance of 12.48 meters in the weight throw, while junior Crystal Bass (Branford, Fla.) turned in a school record of 10.65 meters in the shot put.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Jan. 15, 2011 at the Appalachian State Invitational in Boone, N.C.
