Bobcats impress at Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The Lees-McRae College women's track and field team posted several outstanding performances at this weekend's Liberty Open, hosted by Liberty University.

Lees-McRae, ranked third in the initial U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Southeast Region poll, posted four top-20 performances, including a ninth-place finish by Persephanie Mcrae (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the high jump with a personal-best of 1.55 meters.

Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) also finished 13th in the high jump with a mark of 1.50 meters. Taryn Moorehead (Deer Park, Wash.) finished 13th in the pole vault with a mark of 2.80 meters, while Jamara Cook (Claremont, N.C.) placed 19th in the weight throw with a toss of 11.58 meters.

Lees-McRae returns to action on Feb. 18 when the Bobcats travel to Boone, N.C. to participate in the ASU Invitational, hosted by Appalachian State University.
