HIGH POINT, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College women's track and field team is picked to finish fourth in the race for the 2013 Conference Carolinas outdoor championship, announced league officials Wednesday.
Lees-McRae returns 17 letter-winners from last year's squad, including conference champions freshman pole vaulter Taylor Pritchett (Apex, N.C.) and sophomore Meagan Thornton (Millville, N.J.), who took home the league title in the 400-meter hurdles as a freshman. The Bobcats finished the conference championships strong last season, taking fourth place on the final day.
Mount Olive College is tabbed to repeat as the conference champion after claiming the team title last season, receiving 46 points and four first-place votes. Limestone College is a close second with 42 points and three first-place votes, followed by King College with 39 points and one first-place vote. Lees-McRae is fourth with 30 points, followed by Belmont Abbey College (20), Barton College (18), Queens University of Charlotte (17), and North Greenville University (12).
Lees-McRae will open its 2013 outdoor season on Friday, March 1 when the Bobcats travel to Hickory, N.C. to participate in the first day of the Power Sox Invitational, hosted by Lenoir-Rhyne University.
