Bingham, Lloyd Claim Titles at Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. --- Christian Lloyd won the men's pole vault crown and Erin Bingham claimed gold in the 60-meter hurdles while the Lees-McRae track & field teams participated in the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships at the JDL Fast Track Sunday in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Lloyd (Irmo, S.C.) repeated as the indoor pole vault conference champion after he cleared 4.21 meters on his third attempt. Fellow Bobcat Joshua Cady (Aiken, S.C.) tied for fifth with a height of 3.76.

Bingham (West Jefferson, N.C.) accomplished the same feat in the 60-meter hurdles with a blistering time of 9.20 seconds. Teammate Makayla Estep (Moravian Falls, N.C.) finished fifth with a time of 9.99 seconds.

Junior Cody McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) impressed and won bronze in the 800-meter run after turning in a time of 1:59.29.

Sophomore Tyree Reed (Phenix City, Ala.) broke his own school record for the third time this season when he claimed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.97 seconds. The versatile Bobcat finished sixth in the 200-meter in 22.53 seconds.

Junior Kayla Powell (Moyock, N.C.) registered two top-five marks in throws. Powell claimed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 13.15 meters. She earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a heave of 11.10 meters.

LMC's Joshua Godwin (Pleasant Grove, N.C.) grabbed sixth in the shot put with a mark of 12.59 meters.

The men's 4x400 relay squad was good for fifth with a time of 3:28.34. The team consisted of McNeely, Reed, Davante Scott (Hopkins, S.C.) and Razhede Highsmith (Gastonia, N.C.).

The men's distance medly team finished fourth with a time of 10:58.83.

In women's pole vault, sophomore Jordan Brigman (Asheville, N.C.) placed sixth after clearing 2.35 meters.

Sophomore Alexandria Flint (Blue Bell, Pa.) continued her impressive run with LMC and finished seventh in the 800-meter run in 2:30.98.

Najah Underwood (Hendersonville, N.C.) earned a point in the long jump with a distance of 4.52 meters.

The men's team finished fifth overall while Limestone earned the title.

On the women's side, LMC claimed eighth while Mount Olive grabbed the team crown.

Coach Ley Fletcher's squad opens its outdoor season March 19 at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational in Hickory, N.C.
