Bobcats close out day one of the ETSU Invitational Friday

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College track & field programs closed out day one of the ETSU Invitational with a trio of top 20 finishes.

Junior Austin Thompson led all Bobcat finishes with a ninth place nod in the men's 5000m run with a time of 16:06.11. Thompson was the only LMC athlete to finish in the top 10 of their respective event on the day.

Senior Kaitlyn Gearing led the way on the women's side competing in four events. Gearing's top finish Friday came in the high jump with a leap of 1.50m for a finish of 18th.

Day two of the ETSU Invitational will begin bright and early Saturday morning with the first event starting at 8:35 a.m. Different events will run throughout the day with the last one set to begin around 6 p.m.

Sarah Bowman – 31st – Women's 5000m Run – 21:36.34

Bayle Woods – 40th – Women's Weight Throw – 10.02m

Kaitlyn Gearing – 75th – Women's 200m Run – 28.27

Bridget Hambrook – 79th – Women's 60m Dash – 10.33
