Lady Bobcats Fall to Nationally Ranked Opponents

The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats volleyball team battled #5 Florida Southern and #18 Nebraska-Omaha Saturday afternoon, falling 3-0 to their nationally ranked opponents at the Florida Southern Classic. The Lady Bobcats record now stands at 4-4, (1-0 Conference Carolinas).

Host and fifth ranked Florida Southern cruised past the Lady Bobcats 30-15, 30-17, 30-14 in the first match. Freshman Whitney Kiser (Connelly Springs, NC) and senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) paced the Lady Bobcats with five kills each with Metti also registering a team high eight digs. Sophomore Trisha Reese (Hanover, PA) handled setting duties, posting 17 assists.

In the afternoon, the Lady Bobcats tangled with #18 Nebraska-Omaha, falling 30-18, 30-14, 30-15. Metti (pictured) once again led the Lady Bobcats in kills, posting six while senior Caty Honey (Geneva, IL) chipped in four. Senior libero Dani Usedom (Geneva, IL) turned in a strong performance in the Lady Bobcats backcourt with ten digs, but the nationally ranked Mavericks were too much for the nine time defending Conference Carolinas Champions. Reese again took care of things up front, registering 16 assists.

The Lady Bobcats will now resume Conference Carolinas play at home Wednesday evening. Converse College visits Williams Gymnasium for a 7:00pm start.
