Lady Bobcats End Season With Loss at NCAA Tourney

CALIFORNIA, PA--The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats volleyball team had their season come to a close Thursday afternoon, falling 3-1, (30-28, 27-30, 19-30, 28-30) to Clarion University in first round action of the NCAA Tournament. The Lady Bobcats finish the year with a 26-12 record, while the Golden Eagles improve to 28-5 and will move on to second round action.

The Lady Bobcats were led by senior Daviana Metti (Cordoba, Argentina) who posted a match high 25 kills, 18 digs, and also picked up three of the team's six service aces. Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas, NV) paced the offense with 46 assists while adding 17 digs and four kills.

Amanda Angermeier led Clarion with 21 kills while Christina Steiner added 13 kills and 15 digs. Kristi Fiorillo handled the setting for the Golden Eagles picking up a match high 48 assists.

"I am extremely proud of this team; we battled hard right to the end," stated Head Coach Jamie Petrik. "Clarion did a great job of getting the points they needed at critical points in the match which made the difference today. We played a good game and were more efficient than they were offensively, however they capitalized on their opportunities and at those critical times during the match and managed to pull out the win."
