LAURINBURG, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats' volleyball team rallied from a first-set loss for a 3-1 (23-25, 25-20, 25-12, 25-22) Conference Carolinas victory over host St. Andrews Presbyterian College Lady Knights on Friday night on Harris Court.
After losing the first set 25-23, the Lady Bobcats jumped out to a 6-1 lead and never looked back. The Lady Bobcats went on to win the second set 25-20 and finished the match by winning sets three and four 25-12 and 25-22.
Megan Epperson led the Lady Bobcats offensively with 11 kills while Katie Legg (Alta Loma, Calif.) and sophomore Taylor Stice (Franklin, Tenn.) each tallied eight kills. Juniors Trisha Reese (Hanover, Pa.) and Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas, Nev.) tied each other with 18 assists. Sophomore Kell Bogdan (Leawood, Kan.) had a team-high 27 digs, and sophomore Whitney Kiser (Connelly Springs, N.C.) totaled four aces. Sophomore Lindsey Brant (Orlando, Fla.) chipped in with 16 digs and four aces.
With the victory the Lady Bobcats moved over .500 for the first time this season at 11-10. Lees-McRae also improved to 8-2 in conference play. The Lady Knights, who are 7-12 on the season, had a three-match Conference Carolinas win streak snapped and fell to 4-5 in the league.
The Lady Bobcats travel to Hartsville, S.C. Saturday to take on the Coker College Lady Cobras at noon.
