BELMONT, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats downed the Belmont Abbey Lady Crusaders 3-1, (25-21, 25-13, 24-26, 25-13) in a Conference Carolinas match Wednesday in Wheeler Center.
After a tough set one, the Lady Bobcats took control of set two,
but the Lady Crusaders rallied to win set three. The Lady Bobcats
controlled set four from the start after jumping out to 9-2
Megan Epperson (St. John, Ind.) and Katie-Marie Legg (Alta Loma, Calif.) led the Lady Bobcats with ten kills. The match was the first time in Legg's career where she was a match kill leader. Natalie Burns (Orlando, Fla.) added nine. Lauren Dickover (Las Vegas, Nev.) posted 26 assists, a season high for Dickover, and Trisha Reese (Hanover, Penn.) finished with 19. Kell Bogdan (Leawood, Kan.) led the Bobcats with 20 digs, and Epperson finished with 11 to post a double double.
Bria James finished with 10 kills, while Sydney Steffen added eight to lead Belmont Abbey. Emily Frohnapfel and Stefanie Holler both added seven. Rebekah Weber handed out 22 assists while Molly Gwaltney had 18. James led the Abbey with 13 digs to register a double double, while Megan Watts had ten. Cassandra and Weber both finished with two block assists.
The Lady Bobcats' next match is Friday, October 24th at 7 p.m. against Mt. Olive College at Williams Gym.
