INDIANAPOLIS --- Sophomore Taylor Pritchett (Apex, N.C.) is ranked third in the nation in aces per set, and the Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team is listed fifth in the same category, announced NCAA officials Tuesday with the release of this week's NCAA Division II women's volleyball statistics.
Lees-McRae (7-7, 4-3 Conference Carolinas) has enjoyed a strong run of play over its last five matches, winning four of five contests after splitting with Barton College and Mount Olive College this past weekend. The Bobcats enter the week ranked fifth in the nation in aces per set, averaging 2.71 per frame after posting 29 aces in eight sets last week against Barton and Mount Olive.
Pritchett paced the Bobcat serving corps last week with 11 aces, including a career-high eight against Mount Olive on Saturday, jumping to third in the nation with an average of 0.94 per frame. Senior Taylor Clendenin (Statesville, N.C.) surged up the ladder this week, jumping 35 spots to rank 53rd in the nation in aces per set (0.49).
Lees-McRae returns to the court tonight when the Bobcats travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. to take on Carson-Newman College in a key NCAA Division II Southeast Region matchup at 7 p.m.
