Pritchett holds steady at third in nation in aces

INDIANAPOLIS --- Sophomore Taylor Pritchett (Apex, N.C.) is ranked third in the nation in service aces per set and the Lees-McRae College women's volleyball program is listed seventh in the same category, announced NCAA officials Tuesday in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II women's volleyball statistics.

Lees-McRae (8-9, 5-4 Conference Carolinas) has enjoyed a strong run of play over its last five matches in league action, posting a 4-1 conference record in that span, including a four-set victory over Coker College this past Saturday. The Bobcats enter the week ranked seventh in the nation in aces per set, averaging 1.70 per frame after posting 17 aces in 10 sets last week against Carson-Newman College, Belmont Abbey College, and Coker.

Pritchett paced the Bobcat serving corps with seven aces last week, holding steady at third in the nation with an average of 0.89 aces per frame this season. Senior Taylor Clendenin (Statesville, N.C.) continues to be ranked among the nation's leaders, entering the week listed 98th with an average of 0.43 aces per frame.

Lees-McRae returns to the court on Friday when the Bobcats travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to take on Converse College in league play at 7 p.m. The Bobcats won the teams' first meet of the season in straight sets on September 21 in Williams Gymnasium.
