BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team will host three matches inside Williams Gymnasium this weekend. LMC will begin its weekend with a 7 p.m. match against Mount Olive Friday before closing out the weekend Saturday with tilts against Barton at noon and Winston-Salem at 4 p.m.
Scouting the Bobcats – LMC is coming off a 3-1 victory over King (Tenn.) last Saturday. In the win, junior Madison Martin posted a season-high 30 digs, while Avalon Liscio contributed 20 kills. For her efforts, Martin was awarded the Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Scouting Mount Olive – The Trojans enter Friday's match with a 9-9 record overall and a 4-5 mark in conference play. Mount Olive's offense is very balanced as it has five different players that have surpassed the 100-kill mark this season. Defensively, the Trojans are paced by their libero Casey Fiechter who is averaging 4.08 digs per set.
Scouting Barton – Barton comes into the weekend a top the Conference Carolinas standings with a 7-1 mark in league play and a 10-7 record overall. The Bulldogs have been on a hot streak as of late as they have won 10 of their last 11 matches with the lone loss coming at Belmont Abbey on Sept. 23, 3-2.
Scouting Winston-Salem – WSSU currently boasts a record of 12-6 and 8-2 conference record. A major reason for the Rams' success this season has been their work defensively. Winston-Salem is holding opponents to a hitting percentage of just .109 this season. Crista Brown has been the leader for that Rams' defense averaging over a block per set (1.09).
