Bobcats drop a four-set decision to Mount Olive

BANNER ELK, N.C. – Behind 19 kills from Karley Pounds, the Mount Olive Trojans knocked off Lees-McRae in four sets Friday evening (25-18, 25-21, 21-25, 25-18) at Williams Gymnasium. The loss moves LMC's record to 6-11 overall and 3-5 in conference play, while the Trojans improve to 10-9 overall and 5-5 in league play.

Set 1: Pounds totaled seven kills on 10 attempts to help the Trojans to a 25-18 victory in the opening set. The Bobcats struggled with attack errors in the frame with seven, which nearly matched their kill total in the stanza (8). Avalon Liscio was LMC's top offensive option with the three kills to open the match.

Set 2: Logan Slusher totaled four of her nine kills in the second set but it wasn't enough as the Trojans took the second set as well, 25-21. Slusher was the only Bobcat to hit above .125 in the stanza.

Set 3: LMC got on the board with its most efficient offensive frame in the match (.143). The duo of Liscio and Slusher combined for six kills to power the Bobcats to a 25-21 victory and in doing so forced a fourth set.

Set 4: Much like LMC did in the third, UMO put together its best offensive numbers to close out the Bobcats, 25-18. Lees-McRae combined for 11 total errors between the attack and on the block, which proved to be the deciding factor in the frame.

Next Up: The Bobcats will be back in action with a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon against Barton. Following its match with the Bulldogs, LMC will host Winston Salem State around 4 p.m. Additionally, prior to the second match, the team will honor its three seniors.
