BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team will return to the Conference Carolinas Tournament Tuesday after a one-year absence. LMC, which finished its regular season with a record of 11-17 overall and 7-9 in conference play, earned the No. 4 seed in the North Division and will take on the top seed in the South Division, Erskine. The match is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
Lees-McRae has been led this season by senior Haylee Leonard. Leonard, who hails from Wallburg, N.C., paces the team with 202 kills and ranks second for LMC in blocks (52). Leonard is also the only Bobcat to appear in every set for the team this season.
The segment of the Bobcats' team that has been the strongest has been their work from the service line. Lees-McRae has six different players that have posted at least 20 aces, including Darian Parsons who has the most on the team with 44. Additionally, Parsons's 44 aces are the second most in the conference.
Erskine enters Tuesday's match with a record of 17-9 overall and 14-2 in Conference Carolinas action. The Flying Fleet have been especially good on their home court as they have lost just five sets in eight matches on their way to a 7-1 record at home. Individually, Erskine has been paced by setter Kristen Dodge. Dodge not only leads the conference averaging 10.44 assists per set but she also has the fourth-best hitting percentage in the league (.314).
