LMC Women’s Volleyball adds Caitlyn Smirne to the 2017 recruiting class Friday

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team announced the signing of Caitlyn Smirne (Winterville, N.C.) for the 2017 season Friday morning. Smirne joins fellow signees Kaci Thornton, Allie Cunningham and Lauren Arnold as the newest members of the squad as it preps for its 2017 season.

"Caitlyn's previous playing experience in a plethora of positions makes her an invaluable addition to our roster," said LMC Head Coach William Tatge. "With her experience playing whichever position her previous teams needed her to play, she will be able to step into several different roles here at Lees-McRae and be an impact within each of them."

In addition to her play on the court, Smirne will bring a lot of success off the court to Banner Elk as well. The Winterville, N.C. native was a member of the Beta Club, National Honors Society and Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honors Society during her time at D.H. Conley High School.

Smirne intends on majoring in education when she enrolls at Lees-McRae this fall.
