BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team will have a busy week coming up as it has three matches over a five day stretch. Lees-McRae will begin the week with a trip to Bluefield State Tuesday before hosting Emmanuel (GA) Friday and Erskine Saturday as a part of the homecoming festivities. Tuesday's and Friday's matches will begin at 7 p.m., while Saturday's will start at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Bobcats fell on the road to Belmont Abbey last Saturday in four sets (25-21, 25-12, 22-25, 26-24). The loss moved LMC's record to 1-9 overall and 0-3 in Conference Carolinas play this season.
Weathersbee moving up the ranks: With her 93 assists across three matches last week, senior setter Courtney Weathersbee has now moved into eighth place all-time in Lees-McRae women's volleyball history with 1,382 assists. Weathersbee passed former Bobcat Allyson Schillinger who totaled 1,313 assists in her career. Weathersbee needs just 86 more assists to move into seventh place on the list as she would pass Lenka Jamrichova who had 1,467 assists.
Lucky Number Three: The Bobcats have played their best this season in the third set. Overall, Lees-McRae has won 10 sets this fall with five of those being third sets. LMC has also scored over 30 percent of its 726 points in 2017 in the third with a total of 221.
About the Opponents: Bluefield State enters Tuesday's contest with the Bobcats with a record of 0-7 overall. The Big Blues have won just two sets this season with those coming against Kentucky State and West Virginia Wesleyan.
Emmanuel (GA) and Erskine, meanwhile have fared very differently so far in 2017. The Lions are currently tied for second in the Conference Carolinas standings with a 3-1 mark in league matches and a 5-6 record overall. The Flying Fleet, however, come into the week with a record of 1-10 and 0-4 in conference.
Series Histories vs. Opponents: Tuesday's match will mark the first ever meeting between Lees-McRae and Bluefield State. On Friday against Emmanuel, the Bobcats will look to keep their perfect 3-0 record intact against the Lions. In Saturday's match against Erskine, the Bobcats will look to snap their current five-match losing skid against the Flying Fleet. Additionally, Erskine has eliminated Lees-McRae from the conference tournament in each of the past three seasons.
