BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team will head down the mountain Saturday to take on rival King (TN) University in a Conference Carolinas contest. The match is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start time.
Last Time Out: LMC fell on the road to Barton last Saturday in three sets (25-14, 25-16, 25-18). The Bobcats were led in the contest by Madison Martin who totaled 20 digs. The loss moved Lees-McRae's record to 3-12 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
On the Road Again: The Bobcats are in the midst of their second four-match road swing of the season. Lees-McRae, which will close out the road swing Tuesday at UVA-Wise, is 1-10 in tilts played away from Banner Elk this season.
Moving Up the Career Ranks: Senior setter Courtney Weathersbee needs just 19 more assists to move into sole possession of sixth place on the program's all-time assist list. Weathersbee, who currently has 1,538 assists, would surpass former Bobcat Valia Petrova on the list with those 19 assists.
About King: King enters Saturday's matchup with the Bobcats with a record of 8-9 overall and a 3-4 mark in conference matches. The Tornado have won two straight 3-0 decisions over Mount Olive and Concord coming into Saturday. King has been led by the duo of Cathy Scaniffe and Amy Serowski in 2017. Scaniffe is fourth in the conference averaging 3.45 kills per set, while Serowski ranks second in the league averaging 4.86 digs per set.
Series History vs. King: Since the first meeting between LMC and King in 2011, the series has been a highly contested one. The Tornado have the slight edge winning seven of the 13 contests, including three of the last four meetings. LMC, however, won the last match between the two programs by a score of 3-1 last season in Banner Elk.
