HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team fell to Harding (25-18, 25-17, 25-19) in three sets before dropping a four-set decision to Montevallo (25-23, 16-25, 25-16, 25-16) on the final day of its trip to Alabama.
Harding Recap - The early match saw the Bison come out on the offensive against the Bobcats, attacking at a .398 clip for the match. Harding were led by Ally Stoner who had 12 kills on the day. Emily Smith and Logan Smith also added 11 kills each, helping Harding to a 48 kill performance. Defensively, Katherine Cowart had 17 digs and the Bison totaled five blocks that assisted in keeping the Bobcat attack off balance.
Senior Lex Zangari had seven kills to lead the Bobcat offense. The team's best performance came in the opening set when it hit .294 percent on 11 kills. Setting up those kills was senior Megan Gallion with 13 assists, followed by Erica Slinde, who added 10 of her own.
Montevallo Recap - After dropping the first set, Lees-McRae came out strong in the second, winning by a score of 25-16. During which, Hanna Steckler had six of her nine kills on the day. Ellissa Small also added five kills in the second while Kaitlyn Arentz supplied seven digs. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, the Falcons got it turned around and would take the next two sets to win 3-1.
Montevallo totaled 62 kills in the four-set contest with 17 coming from Brioni Dixon. Skyler Sieber was the star on defense, accounting for 24 of Montevallo's 83 digs. The Falcons closed strong, racking up a .382 attack percentage in the fourth set, their best of the match.
Next Up – Lees-McRae will head to Florida next weekend for another two-day, four-match tournament. The Bobcats will open with Embry-Riddle at 10 a.m. Friday before wrapping up the day with a tilt against West Georgia at 4:30 p.m.
