BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team will return to action this weekend in Florida for four non-conference matches on the campus of Flagler College. The Bobcats will begin the weekend with matchups against Embry-Riddle (10 a.m.) and West Georgia (4:30 p.m.) on Friday followed by contests against Flagler (noon) and Walsh (4:30 p.m.) on Saturday.

Last Time Out – The Bobcats dropped all four of their matches last weekend to open their 2019 season. Lees-McRae was swept by Alabama Huntsville and Harding, while falling in four sets to Trevecca Nazarene and Montevallo on the trip.

Freshman Fitting In – A bright spot in the team's opening weekend was the play of freshman Kaitlyn Arentz. Arentz totaled a team-high 56 digs in the four matches, which leads all freshmen in Conference Carolinas through one weekend of play and ranks third overall behind only Limestone's Bailey Carpenter (73) and Converse's Elizabeth Yohe (61).

Accurate Hitters – Through one weekend of play, the Bobcats have a pair of hitters ranking in the top five within the league in terms of hitting percentage. Hanna Steckler ranks third attacking at a .302 clip, while Lexi Zangari checks in fourth hitting .274 through four matches.

About the Opponents – Much like last weekend, the Bobcats will have their hands full with their opponents this weekend. Embry-Riddle will be taking the court for the first time in 2019 due to the effects of Hurricane Dorian cancelling the team's first weekend of action. In 2018, the Eagles went 18-12 overall and 9-11 in conference play. The trio of West Georgia, Flagler and Walsh, meanwhile, bring a collective 7-4 record into this weekend's action.

Series Histories vs. Opponents – The history between the Bobcats and their four opponents this weekend is fairly limited. In fact, the matchups against Embry-Riddle, West Georgia and Walsh will be the first time Lees-McRae has faced any of those programs. As for Flagler, the Saints have won four of the five all-time meetings with the last occurring in 2011. Lees-McRae's lone victory in the series came back in 2006 in four sets.
