TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team fell on Tuesday night to North Greenville in three sets (20-25, 21-25, 17-25) in Tigerville.
First Set – The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead in the first, finding themselves up 6-2 through the first eight points. The Crusaders would climb back into things, tying the match at 15. From here, Lees-McRae went cold and would drop the next six points and ultimately the set.
Second Set – Lees-McRae would again start fast in the second, with NGU making a push in the middle of the set to tie the score at 14. Olivia Ney responded strong with two huge spikes but the Crusaders would again comeback to take the set.
Third Set – North Greenville and Lees-McRae again found themselves locked in a tight battle midway through the third. The Bobcats were not able to hold off the Crusaders in the later part of the set, closing out the game by scoring the final seven points.
Stat Standouts – Lees-McRae were led by Abby Wordsworth (7 kills) and Olivia Ney (6 kills). Megan Gallion (11 assists) and Erica Slinde (10 assists) set the up the Bobcat attack. Defensively, Arentz and Smirne finished with 8 and 6 digs respectively.
Next Up – The Bobcats will return to action this Saturday when they face King at home for their homecoming match-up. First serve between the Bobcats and Tornados is set for noon.
