BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College women's volleyball team will wrap up its regular season with a key match at King (Tenn.) University on Saturday afternoon. First serve between the Tornado and Bobcats is set for noon.
Last Time Out – The Bobcats dropped a three-set decision (25-10, 25-12, 25-19) on the road at Emmanuel last Saturday. The loss moved Lees-McRae's record to 12-13 overall and 10-5 in Conference Carolinas play.
10 wins in the league – Lees-McRae has enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in recent memory within conference play. The 10 victories picked up by the Bobcats is the most for the program in league action since the 2014 season. If LMC can knock off King on Saturday, it will match the conference win total from that 2014 squad.
Postseason Possibilities – Currently, the Bobcats sit third in the West Division standings for the upcoming Conference Carolinas Tournament. Unfortunately for Lees-McRae, the other two teams (Emmanuel & North Greenville) that it is competing against for seeding own the tiebreaker against the Bobcats. Regardless of the result on Saturday, the Bobcats will be on the road for their opening match of the conference tournament against either Belmont Abbey or Limestone on November 19.
About King – The Tornado have already clinched a home quarterfinal match for next week's conference tournament. King, which is 16-8 overall and 12-3 in league play, is vying to seal up the top seed in the West Division with Emmanuel. If the two teams end up tied, King would own the tiebreaker against the Lions.
Series History vs. Tornado – The Bobcats are 8-10 all-time against the Tornado in their matches over the years. Among the eight victories is a thrilling five-set triumph against King earlier this season at Williams Gymnasium. Additionally, the Bobcats will be in search for their first win in Bristol since the 2014 season.
