Lady Bobcats Crack Top 25 at NCAA Division II Cross Country Nationals

SLIPPERY ROCK, PENN. - The Lees-McRae College women's cross country team finished 23rd at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Nationals in a 6k race Saturday, November 22nd despite six inches of snow, freezing temperatures and a single digit wind chill.

The Lady Bobcats were led by Junior Carla Swart (Buford, Ga.) who finished 92nd. Junior Dana Lindholm (Weaverville, N.C.) finished 130th and sophomore Kira Shoemaker (Aiken, S.C.) finished 146th. Junior Gina Valenti (Washington, N.C.) and sophomore April Harris (Jonesville, Va.) finished 150th and 152nd respectively. Rounding out the Lady Bobcats was senior Demarea Colson (Chesapeake, Va.), who finished 160th and junior Ashley May (Chilhowie, Va.), who finished 167th.

"This was a great experience for these young women," head coach Craig McPhail said. "I am certain they will remember this for the rest of their lives, and I am glad to have been a part of it."
