CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- Hannah Henderson (Canvas, W. Va.) finished 14th, and the Lees-McRae College women's cross country team placed four runners in the top 40 to record a fourth-place showing at the 2010 Conference Carolinas Championships on Friday.
Lees-McRae recorded two top-20 finishes and four top-40 showings to place fourth in the team standings with 140 points. Queens University of Charlotte captured the team championship with an outstanding total of just 20 points, followed by Mount Olive College (89) and Converse College (122). Lees-McRae and Belmont Abbey College (149) rounded out the top five.
Henderson turned in a time of 19:52.6 to finish 14th and earn all-Conference Carolinas Third Team honors, while senior Kira Shoemaker (Aiken, S.C.) placed 17th with a time of 19:59.3 to notch the Lady Bobcats' second top-20 individual showing of the day. Cinthia Lehner (Greer, S.C.) and Crystal Fischer (Greer, S.C.) finished 35th and 36th, respectively, with times of 21:04.8 and 21:07.8, while Erica Zaveta (Erwinna, Penn.) posted a time of 21:23.0 for a 44th-place showing.
Rayne Delutis (Christianburg, Va.) and Heather Peterman (Buford, Ga.) finished 61st and 63rd, respectively, while Lindsay Bush (Catawba, N.C.) recorded an 86th-place showing to round out the Lady Bobcat performers.
Lees-McRae returns to the course on Nov. 20 when the Lady Bobcats travel to Charlotte, N.C. to compete in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships.
