Henderson garners Conference Carolinas Scholar Athlete honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College senior Hannah Henderson (Canvas, W. Va.) has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Cross Country Scholar Athlete, announced league officials Wednesday.

Henderson caps a tremendous career with the Bobcats, a tenure in which the senior posted seven top-10 finishes and garnered all-Conference Carolinas Third Team honors in each of the last two seasons. The Canvas, W. Va. native enjoyed an impressive season with Lees-McRae this fall, posting a trio of top-10 finishes and placing 14th at the conference championship meet to earn all-conference third team honors.

The Communication Arts major transferred to Lees-McRae from NCAA Division I member Marshall University prior to the 2009 season. As a multi-sport athlete at Marshall in cross country and track & field, Henderson posted 11 top-10 finishes while placing among the top-20 on 17 occasions. Henderson also tallied seven top-five finishes at Marshall, including a pair of victories.

Lees-McRae expected to return seven letter-winners from the women's team, including rising seniors Delutis, Fischer, and Zaveta.
