Shoemaker, Henderson earn USTFCCA all-Academic honors

NEW ORLEANS --- Kira Shoemaker (Aiken, S.C.) and Hannah Henderson (Canvas, W.Va.) have each been named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team for the second straight season, announced UTSFCCCA officials Monday.

Shoemaker put together another solid campaign in her senior season for Lees-McRae, posting a pair of top-20 finishes in just three races. The senior has recorded seven top-10 finishes in her three seasons with the Lady Bobcats, including a sixth-place finish in the 2008 Conference Carolinas Championships.

Henderson capped a tremendous career with the Bobcats this past fall, a tenure in which the senior posted seven top-10 finishes and garnered all-Conference Carolinas Third Team honors in each of the last two seasons. The Canvas, W. Va. native enjoyed an impressive season with Lees-McRae this fall, posting a trio of top-10 finishes and placing 14th at the conference championship meet to earn all-conference third team honors.

Lees-McRae posted a solid season this past fall, finishing fourth in the Conference Carolinas Championships and recording an 18th-place showing at the NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships. Henderson and Shoemaker each earned a spot on the academic all-conference team, as Henderson finished 14th at the conference championships to nab a slot on the all-conference third team.
