BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College women's cross country team looks to build on its solid 2010 season with an even better campaign in 2011, as the Bobcats are slated to run a demanding schedule in the chase for the program's ninth Conference Carolinas championship.
Lees-McRae returns six letter-winners from last's year squad, which finish fourth at the conference championships and 18th at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Championships. Head Coach Thomas Cason welcomes back seniors Rayne Delutis (Christianburg, Va.), Crystal Fischer (Greer, S.C.), and Erica Zaveta (Erwinna, Pa.) to lead the team this fall.
The Bobcats will kick off the 2011 season on Sep. 2, traveling to Spartanburg, S.C. to participate in the Eye Opener Invitational, hosted by USC Upstate. Lees-McRae then makes the journey to Newton, N.C. for the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational on Sep. 10, before traveling to Greensboro N.C. on Sep. 24 to take part in UNC Greensboro's Greensboro XC Invitational.
Coach Cason's squad will return home on Oct. 1 to host the LMC Green-Gold Invitational, which will take place on the LMC Carla Trails as part of homecoming weekend. The Bobcats close out the regular season on Oct. 14, traveling to Boone, N.C. to participate in ASU's Blue Ridge Open, before making the trip to Charlotte, N.C. on Oct. 21 for the Conference Carolinas Championships.
