Bobcat Trio earns academic all-conference honors

HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Three members of the Lees-McRae College women's cross country team were named to the all-Conference Carolinas Academic team on Thursday, as Lindsey Bush (Catawba, N.C.), Cinthia Lehner (Greer, S.C.), and Heather Peterman (Buford, Ga.) were each recognized for their work in the classroom.

Bush has performed well in limited action during her career with the Bobcats, recording a personal-best time of 19:48.41 at the Stampede at the Shoals in 2010. A native of Catawba, N.C., Bush is majoring in pre-professional biology and plans to attend graduate school in pursuit of a career as a physician's assistant.

Lehner put together a strong senior season in the Green and Gold, turning in several impressive showings during the campaign. The Greer, S.C. native posted perhaps her best performance of the season at the Conference Preview Meet earlier this month, finishing 15th with a time of 17:13.86.

Peterman has been sidelined for much of the season due to injury after successful sophomore and freshmen campaigns. A native of Buford, Ga., Peterman turned in perhaps the best performance of her career in 2010 at the Stampede at the Shoals, finishing 13th with a time of 17:26.43.

Lees-McRae returns to the trails on Friday when the Bobcats travel to Concord, N.C. to participate in the Conference Carolinas Championships.
