LMC Cross Country Concludes Action in Asheville

ASHEVILLE, N.C. --- Freshmen Austin Thompson and junior Cody McNeely posted top-20 all-time times in the Lees-McRae cross country record books while the teams participated at the Asheville XC Carnival Saturday morning in Asheville, N.C.

Thompson (Cleveland, Ga.) notched the top time for any DII competitor in the race and finished 15th overall with a time of 26:43.79. His mark is ninth-best in LMC XC history.

McNeely (Salisbury, N.C.) impressed as well with a time of 27:23.99; which is 20th best in school history.

The twin duo of Lane and Shawn Graves (Goshen, Ind.) turned in times of 27:43.67 and 25:54.45, respectively.

Junior Benjamin Wilson (Salisbury, N.C.) notched a time of 29:45.91.

Western Carolina claimed the team title with 45 points while LMC finished seventh with 152.

On the women's side, Alexandria Flint (Blue Bell, Pa.) led the Bobcats with a time of 20:35.00 while freshman Kristen Mitchell (Cleveland, Ga.) was good for 21:14.75.

Host school UNCA claimed the team title while coach Ley Fletcher's squad grabbed sixth.

LMC returns to action Saturday, Sep. 26 when it travels to Wingate to participate in the Pre-Region Meet.
