BOONE, N.C. – Junior Austin Thompson paced all of Lees-McRae College's cross country runners Saturday morning at the Mountain Sea Duals in Boone, N.C. Thompson ran a time of 26:58.48, which is the 19th-fastest time in program history. Overall, the men's team finished eighth out of nine teams Saturday, while the women's team was ninth out of nine squads competing.
While Thompson paced all of Lees-McRae's runners in the men's race Saturday, Jordyn Halvorsen led the women's team with a time of 21:34.71. Halvorsen's time was good for 75th place out of 94 runners.
As mentioned earlier, the men's team finished eighth out of nine teams as it outpaced UNC Wilmington for the eighth place nod. The Bobcats were just three points shy out of seventh place behind Western Carolina. Overall, the University of North Carolina won both the men's and women's titles Saturday.
The Bobcats will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Wingate, N.C. to take part in the Bulldog Stampede.
