Cross Country preps for its second race of the season on Thursday

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs will compete in their second race of the season a day earlier than they anticipated as they will take part in the Lenoir-Rhyne Cross Country Invitational on Thursday. The races are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. from Newton, N.C.

About the Men's Team – In their first race of 2018 on September 1, the Bobcats had a stellar outing at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational. As a team, Lees-McRae finished second among the 10 team field, and it saw seven of its runners place among the 25 finishers in 98 runners overall. Austin Thompson and Shawn Graves placed among the top 10 runners finishing sixth and ninth, respectively.

About the Women's Team – Much like the men's team, the women's squad also had a stellar start to its season. LMC was fifth among the 12 teams that competed on that day at the Chick-Fil-A Invitational. The tandem of Jordyn Halvorsen and Brianne Heard led the Bobcat runners in the 5k race as they both finished in the top 15 of the competitors.
