Cross Country set to compete at the UNC Asheville Invitational

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country programs will be back in action this Friday when they compete at the UNC Asheville Invitational. The women's race is set for 5:45 p.m. start time with the men's race to follow at 6:15 p.m. at Asheville Christian Academy.

Men's Preview – The men's squad finished sixth among an eight-team field at last week's Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational. Despite the sixth-place finish, the Bobcats did post an average time of 27.12 in the 8k race. LMC was led on the day by senior Austin Thompson who posted a time of 26:35.66. The time was not only the 10th-best time in program history but it also helped Thompson earn Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week honors on Tuesday.

Women's Preview – In the women's race at the LRU Invitational, the Bobcats placed sixth among the six teams that competed. Jordyn Halvorsen led the Bobcats with a time of 21:44.20 in the 5k race. Halvorsen has led LMC in each of its two races this season.

About the Races – As mentioned earlier, both races will take place at the Asheville Christian Academy. The men's race is slated to have 11 teams competing, and the women's race is set to have 10. The field includes: UNC Asheville, Belmont Abbey, Gardner-Webb, Limestone, Mars Hill (Men only), Milligan, North Carolina Central, Tennessee Wesleyan, Warren Wilson and Wofford.
