Cross Country heads to Charlotte to compete in the Queen City Invite Friday

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cross country teams will return to action on Friday when they travel to Charlotte to compete at the Queen City Invite. The women's 5k race is set to begin at 5 p.m. with the men's 8k race to follow at 5:30 p.m. Both races will be held at McAlpine Creek Park.

About the Races – There will be nearly 40 teams competing Friday night spanning across NCAA Division I, II and III. Included in the field are 15 Division II schools with conference rivals Barton and Belmont Abbey being among them. Women's Preview – The women's team will look to continue the progress that it made last time out at the UNC Asheville Invitational. Collectively, the Bobcats trimmed nearly a full minute off their average time. Individually, the Bobcats figure to be led by senior Jordyn Halvorsen, who has logged the top time for the team in each of their three races this fall.

Men's Preview – The men's squad will look to keep things rolling in Charlotte on Friday. Overall, LMC has totaled 15 top 25 finishes this season. Senior Austin Thompson has consistently been the top runner for Lees-McRae putting forth an average time of 27:19.
