BANNER ELK, N.C. – After getting rained out of their last races, the Lees-McRae College cross country programs will be back in action on Friday at the Mountains to Sea Open hosted by Appalachian State in Boone, N.C. The women's 5k race is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. with the men's race to follow around 5:30 p.m. Both races will take place at the Don Kennedy Trails in Boone.

Women's Preview – In their lone race of the season so far, the women's team was led by the team's youngest members. Freshman Deanna Betzer posted the team's best time at the Lenoir-Rhyne Invitational with a mark of 21:27.25. Betzer was one of seven Bobcats to make their collegiate debut in that race.

Men's Preview – The men's team, meanwhile, had a solid start to 2019 posting a trio of top-10 finishes at Lenoir-Rhyne. Tristin Bertie led Lees-McRae with a time of 27:09.25 for a fifth place finish with teammates Joshua Hall (7th – 27:24.81) and Andrew Ybarra (9th – 27:41.77) not too far off the pace. For his run, Bertie was named the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week on September 9.
