AUSTIN, Texas – The 2021 Academic All-America® Division II men's and women's soccer teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), were announced on Thursday, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes from each division for their combined success on the field and in the classroom, honoring Lees-McRae's
Johannes Oeksnevad as a member of the Academic All-America® First Team for the second consecutive year.
Oeksnevad, who was named to the 2020-21 Academic All-America® team back on July 6 to become the fifth Bobcat in school history to garner that academic distinction, becomes the first student-athlete in school history to be named to the first team in back-to-back seasons. The senior was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® on Nov. 11, which was the third consecutive year in which he has been named to the all-district team.
In addition to earning an impressive 4.00 GPA as an English and Sports Management dual major, Oeksnevad led the Bobcats in scoring this season with nine goals and five assists for 23 total points in 15 games played en route to being named to the All-Conference Carolinas First Team. The senior finished third in the conference in points and was fourth in goal scored.
Oeksnevad joins both Harri Lovett and Carolina Lucci from Chowan as the only Conference Carolinas soccer student-athletes to achieve this academic honor. The senior also joins Carlos Ferrando Felis as men's soccer student-athletes who were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team in 2020-21.
