The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats defeated the Seton Hill Griffins
16-9 Monday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at
Tate Field. The win was the first this season, as well as Head
Coach Andrea Duffy's first on the Lady Bobcats sidelines, as the
team improved to 1-7.
Brittany Dabkowski opened the scoring just 0:34 seconds into the
game as the Lady Bobcats opened a quick 4-0 lead in their home
opener only 2:13 into the game. The Lady Bobcats extended their
lead to 9-0 before the visitors got on the board with a goal from
Lindsey Smith at 4:29. Both teams would add one more goal as the
Lady Bobcats took a commanding 10-2 lead into halftime.
The Griffins put up the first two goals of the second half to
cut the deficit to six. The teams would trade goals for the
remainder of the game, with each scoring back to back to goals
once.
Dabkowski, (pictured top left), led the Lady Bobcats with four
goals and a pair of assists while Marjie Lesser was also good for
the hat trick plus one. Laura Hawthorne contributed a hat trick
and a pair of assists while Julia Campbell added a pair of goals.
Amelia Henson, Abby White and Clair Shaw rounded out the scoring
for the home side with singles. White and Shaw also registered
assists.
Krista Ocilka led the visitors with a hat trick and also added
an assist. Smith and Ellen Einsporn both added a pair of goals for
the Griffins while Jody Balko added a single.
The Lady Bobcats will resume their Carolinas-Virginia Athletic
Conference schedule Wednesday evening at 6:00pm when they travel to
Queen's University of Charlotte to take on the Lady Royals.
