The Lees-McRae Lady Bobcats ended their season Wednesday
afternoon, hosting St. Andrew's Presbyterian College in
Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference lacrosse action. The Lady
Knights topped the Lady Bobcats 15-2, leaving Lees-McRae with a
1-15, (0-10 CVAC), record.
The Lady Knights opened the scoring with a quick 3-0 lead.
Laura Hawthorne fed Clair Shaw to get the Lady Bobcats on the board
at 23:21, however SAPC responded 13 seconds later to kill any
Lees-McRae momentum. The goal from the Lady Knights ignited a 4-0
run, giving the visitors a comfortable 7-1 lead. Brittany
Dabkowski with just over a minute remaining to close the first half
scoring with SAPC holding the 7-2 advantage heading into
halftime.
The second half belonged to the Lady Knights, outscoring the
home side 8-0 as they cruised to victory.
Katie Wright led the Lady Knights with a game high four goals.
Corey Whitbeck contributed a pair of goals and assists while Jitase
Hall and Alexa Muraida also notched a pair. Kerrie Brown scored a
hat trick for the Lady Knights while Elise Moore and Tenille Inman
added singles.
Shaw and Dabkowski, (pictured bottom right), registered the only
goals for the Lady Bobcats as the pair of seniors ended their
collegiate careers. Both players will leave their names in the
Lees-McRae record books now that their eligibility is done.
Lesser, (pictured top left), is the all time leader in ground balls
with 112. Lesser also ranks third in goals with 54, and total
points with 90. Dabkowski closes her collegiate career as the all
time leader in assists, 41, and total points, 115. Her 74 career
goals also ranked second on the all time scoring list.
