Chicago, IL--The #14 ranked Loyola University Chicago men's
volleyball team swept the visiting Bobcats tonight improving their
record to 3-0 while the Bobcats fall to 0-2 for the year.
The Ramblers took an early 5-2 lead in game one and managed to
hold onto the its lead for the duration, coming out ahead of the
Bobcats 30-26.
In game two of the match the young Bobcat squad forced a back
and forth affair with 19 ties and six lead changes. With the game
tied at 26 three kills by the Ramblers put them ahead, eventually
giving them the game 30-27.
The third game of the evening was much like the second, with the
unseasoned Bobcats staying in the game to the end with a more
veteran Rambler team, finally losing 30-26.
"Obviously the difference between today and last night [Lewis]
was confidence. There were times that we led the game, there were
times that we still got kills with three blockers on us. If we we
continue to build this confidence this team will be much stronger
as we continue on this season," said Head Coach Jamie Petrik after
the game.
For the Bobcats it was Shane
Holderby (Virgiinai Beach, VA) with 10 kills, Colin
Kelly (Orlando, FL) eight kills and two aces, and Chad
Mercado (Orlando, FL) tallying seven kills with a .417 hitting
percentage. Transfer Ryan
Black (Escondido, CA) had five kills, a .833 hitting
percentage, and a block solo along with a block assist. Josh
Shea (Las Vegas, NV) threw in 29 assists, while Kyle
Gauger (Penfield, NY) had 10 digs on the evening.

Hutz (Whitefish Bay) tallied 48 assists and 15 digs for the
