CHARLOTTE, NC--Amanda Mahle led the Queens University of
Charlotte women's lacrosse team with five goals in the 21-7 victory
over the Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats Friday afternoon at the
Queens University of Charlotte Sports Complex at Marion Diehl
Park.
Queens (1-0 overall; 1-0 Conference Carolinas) scored five goals
in the first 10 minutes of play to Lees-McRae's (0-1 overall; 0-1
Conference Carolinas) two. Mahle opened the scoring up just over
one minute into play.
The Royals would go on to score another 10 in the half and limit
the Lady Bobcats to one. The Royals were able to limit the visitors
scoring by holding Lees-McRae to just nine shots in the half.
Queens took 17, missing only on two.
Right from the whistle in the second half Queens was ready to
find the net again. This time Kelley Duffy opened scoring in the
half. Duffy recorded four goals in the game, the second highest for
Queens. In addition to her four goals, Duffy had five assists. As a
team Queens recorded 14 total assists.
Ellie Psillas scored two of the four goals for the Bobcats in
the second set. Desiree Cox had the other two.
Queens out-shot Lees-McRae 11-7 in the second half, 28-16 for
the entire game.
Logan Canale played between the pipes for the Royals and made
seven saves in the game. Olivia Maurey made 21 saves for the
Bobcats.
The Lady Bobcats will continue Conference Carolinas play on the
road this weekend, battling St. Andrews Presbyterian College Sunday
afternoon in Laurinburg, NC. Game time is scheduled for
1:00pm.
