BANNER ELK, NC - The Lees-McRae College Lady Bobcats dropped a
hard fought 18-15 contest to Conference Carolinas rival Pfeiffer
University Monday afternoon at Tate Field. The Lady Falcons even
their record at 8-8 (5-5 Conference Carolinas) while the Lady
Bobcats are now 1-14 (0-10).
After spotting the visitors an 8-0 lead, the Lady Bobcats
battled back and made a game out of it. Desiree Cox buried her
64th and 65th goals of the season and Ellie Psillas her 19th to
draw the Lady Bobcats to within five at 8-3, while 13:30 to play in
the first half. Elie Fenton and Ashley Hill would respond for the
Lady Falcons with a pair of goals in the next minute to give the
visitors a 10-3 cushion and 12:28 remaining. Cox would add two
more and Abby White her tenth as the Lady Bobcats would storm back
and outscore the Lady Falcons 3-1 to end the half down 11-6.
The Lady Bobcats would use the momentum built in the latter part
of the first half to open things up in the second half, clawing
their way back with another 3-1 run that would bring them to within
three, 12-9 and just under 23 minutes to play. Jamie Livingston
and Heidi Karaszkiewicz would hook up off of the ensuing draw with
a nice give and go to push the lead back to four. Julia Campbell
responded for the Lady Bobcats just over a minute later as the
resilient Lady Bobcats continued to battle their way back into the
game. Unfortunately, the damage had been done and the Lady Bobcats
could get no closer than three as the teams traded one and two goal
runs to the final buzzer.
Cox, who entered the contest leading the nation in goals scored
and ranked second in goals per game, picked up a game high seven
goals in the game, bringing her season total to 70. Psillas
finished with four goals and an assist, White a hat trick and an
assist while Campbell picked up a goal and an assist.
Hill led the way for Pfeiffer, matching Cox' seven point game

Karaszkiewicz added a hat trick. Fenton and Sara Hebberd added
singles to round out the scoring for the visitors.
The Lady Bobcats will now wait for the other Conference
