BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's volleyball team
improved to 3-0 in the Lees-McRae College Mountain Classic with a
five set win, 3-2 (26-30,30-24, 21-30, 30-28, 16-14) over the
Quincy University Hawks Sunday in Williams Gymnasium.
For the second consecutive day, Colin Kelly led the Bobcats with 25
kills on 49 attempts with only eight errors for a .347 hitting
percentage. Kelly also earned a team high with three total blocks
and tied for a team high one service ace. Jeff Black chipped in
with 19 kills on 32 attempts with seven errors for a .375 hitting
percentage to lead the team. Juan Ramirez passed out 56 assists
and earned a team high with 14 digs.
Lees-McRae fell behind early with a first set loss, 26-30, but
rallied to win the second set 30-24. Quincy handed the Bobcats a
30-21 set three loss, which was the largest margin of victory
during the match, but again Lees-McRae answered with a 30-28 set
four win to send the match to the fifth and final set. Lees-McRae
battled to win set five 16-14 with Kelly recording the final two
kills of the match.
With the win, Lees-McRae improves to 5-1 on the season.
