HARRISONBURG, VA. - Four Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's
volleyball players recorded double-digit kills and two players
recorded double digit digs to boost the team to a 3-2 (23-30,
30-19, 30-28, 28-30, 15-10) win over Eastern Mennonite Wednesday
night.
Chad Mercado led the Bobcats with a career high 29 kills on 44
attempts with only seven errors for a .500 hitting percentage.
Colin Kelly chipped in with 20 kills. Ryan Black and Jeremy Evans
had 13 kills and 10 kills respectively to round off the Bobcats in
double digits. Robert Ritchie led the team with 14 digs, and
Raphael Vieira picked up 10 digs. Kelly and Charles Macias had
three service aces. Juan Ramirez handed out a season high 67
assists. Evans recorded a team high two and a half blocks.
After falling behind by a set one loss, the Bobcats rallied to win
the next two sets, 30-19 and 30-28, to take a one set lead, but
Eastern Mennonite tied the match at two with a 30-28 set four win.
In the final set, Lees-McRae sealed the win with a 15-10 win.
The Bobcats improve to 12-2 on the season doubling their season win
total from a year ago.
Lees-McRae will travel to the west coast to play three matches in
California on March 14th, 17th and 18th for their next matches.
