LAURINBURG, N.C.-The St. Andrews Presbyterian College women's
lacrosse team took a 19-4 Conference Carolinas victory over
Lees-McRae College on Sunday afternoon.
St. Andrews set the tone of the game early and went on to post 11
first half goals while shutting out Lees-McRae.
St. Andrews scored the first three goals of the second half to
extend its lead to 14 goals before Cheryse Cox broke up the shutout
bid with 24 minutes and 15 seconds left. Cheryse Cox scored her two
goals in a 76 second span.
Older sister Desiree Cox scored the Lady Bobcats other two goals
late in the game.
Desiree Cox posted her 49th and 50th goals of the season which
leads the conference.
Martha Peacock had a game-high 10 saves but was saddled with the
loss for the Lady Bobcats.
Kerrie Brown led the Lady Knights with four goals and two assists
for a total of six points. Cara Manas also had six points with a
trio of goals and three assists. Kim McDaniel scored five goals,
and Kelsey Binggeli had one goal and two assists.
Eryn McCaffrey allowed two goals in her 40 minutes in goal to
earn the win for the Lady Knights.
St. Andrews outshot Lees-McRae 41-14 and held a 25-12 ground ball
edge.
The Lady Knights won the majority of the draw controls, 16-9, and
committed 13 turnovers compared to 19 for the Lady Bobcats.
Lees-McRae will host Belmont Abbey College April 4th at 1:00 p.m.
for their next game.
