BANNER ELK, N.C. - Despite Lees-McRae's Tiffany Paris' six goal
and eight groundball performance, the St. Andrews Presbyterian
College Lady Knights scored eight second half goals to down the
Lady Bobcats 17-13 Monday afternoon in the final regular season
Conference Carolinas women's lacrosse game.
Paris scored a game high six goals to lead the Lady Bobcats. She
tied with Julia Campbell, playing in her final regular season game
as a Lady Bobcat, with eight groundballs. Desiree Cox added five
goals and five groundballs, and sister Cheryse Cox and Campbell
scored the Bobcats other two goals. Lexi King collected five
groundballs, and Lauren Martin had a team high three draw
controls. Paris and Campbell tied for a game high five caused
turnovers. In goal Martha Peacock took the loss despite 13
saves.
Seniors Campbell and defender Susan Dael were honored before the
game for Lees-McRae on senior day.
Kerrie Brown had the answer for the Lady Knights with six goals and
two assists for a total of eight points. Brown also scooped up six
groundballs. Cara Manas and Alexis Goldman score three goals
apiece, and Katie Wright and Kim McDaniel scored two goals. Kelsey
Binggeli added the other Lady Knights goal. Binggeli also had
three assists. Shana Schroeder had seven groundballs.
In the first half the two teams traded the lead in the first half
five times and had five ties. Neither team took more than a two
goal lead during the first thirty minutes. St. Andrews took a 9-7
lead into the intermission, but took control of the game with five
goals in nine minutes to start the second half and take a 14-7
lead. Lees-McRae rallied with three goals to cut the lead to
14-10, but couldn't complete the comeback falling 17-13.
St. Andrews outshot Lees-McRae 43-31 and won the groundball battle
46-42. St. Andrews barely won the draw controls 13-12.
Lees-McRae will now travel to Pfeiffer for the first round of the
Conference Carolinas Tournament Wednesday.
