High Point, N.C. -- Sophomore Nandor Solymosi was selected
Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis Player of the Year and First Team
All Conference, teammates Shaun Sumner and Alek Mojski received
Second Team All Conference, and fourth year head coach Paul Goode
was named Coach of the Year as announced by Conference Carolinas
officials at the league's tennis banquet Thursday evening. The
banquet kicks off the Conference Tournament Championships co-hosted
by Erskine College and the Sumter Palmetto Park Tennis Complex in
Sumter, SC.
The Conference Carolinas All-Conference Teams were determined by
vote from each Head Coach of participating league institutions.
Nominations were collected and then voted upon by ballot and
tallied to determine Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year,
Coach of the Year, All-Conference First Team, All-Conference Second
Team and All-Conference Second Team.
Nandor Solymosi of Drebecen, Hungary was twice named Conference
Carolinas Player of the Week and finished the year 5-2 in
conference play at the No. 1 singles position. Solymosi defeated
the nation's No. 7 DII player at Anderson to help the team upset
the No. 17 ranked team. He also defeated two Division I top spot
players.
Shaun Summer (Burlington, N.C) finished the year 5-2 in
conference and earned a Conference Carolinas Player of the Week
award at the No. 3 spot, while Alek Mojski (Berlin, Germany) ended
the regular season with 4-3 conference record at the No. 2
seed.
Coach Paul Goode led his team to the regular season Conference
Carolinas Championship after his team stroked their way to an 8-0
Conference Carolinas record, improving from a fourth place finish
in regular season play a year ago.
