TAKOMA PARK, Md. --- The Lees-McRae College
men's volleyball team utilized a balanced attack and overpowering
serving en route to a three-set sweep of Washington Adventist
University on Thursday night in non-conference action.
Lees-McRae (7-6) notched its third straight victory, winning the
match by scores of 25-4, 25-12, and 25-10. Leading the charge for
Lees-McRae was Dylan Kembre (West Chester, Ohio), who tallied
match-highs of six service aces and three digs, while Kevin
Morrison (Norfolk, Va.) notched a squad-best five kills. Sam Sheers
(Centerville, Ohio) added four kills and three digs, while Randy
Ramirez (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico), John Lucas (Cincinnati, Ohio), and
Eduardo Gonzales (San Juan, Puerto Rico) each posted three
aces.
Edward Walkley (Glenbrook, Australia) and Chad Mercado (Orlando,
Fla.) each tallied three kills, while Kembre and Ramirez posted 12
and seven assists, respectively. Matt Harpenau (Cincinnati, Ohio)
chipped in a match-high three blocks as Ramirez added two stuffs of
his own.
Lees-McRae returns to the court on Friday when the Bobcats
travel to Newark, N.J. to take on New Jersey Institute of
Technology on the third leg of their four-day road trip. First
serve is slated for 7 p.m.
